Let’s talk about choosing colours?
Colour is one of the most powerful tools to design your home, and because of that, choosing them for your space can feel a bit scary, because you don’t want to get it wrong, right?
So the first thing I need you to know is…
HAVE NO FEAR!

Colour is your friend and can make your room feel happier, bigger, cosier, brighter, etc.
With colour, you can make walls move forward, backwards, make your ceilings appear higher, hide imperfections and the list goes on and on.
And today I’m gonna share with you the three steps that are the foundation to choose the right colour for your home.
So grab your cuppa and let’s get started!
Step no 1. Choose a colour you love
Start by choosing a colour you love and makes you feel good.
Ok, so if you’ve been following me for a while, you probably heard me say this before.
Always start within you! Think about your sweet memories, what connects with you, and what makes you smile.
For example, if you love the sea, have some blue in your scheme.
If you feel connected to nature, add green.
If ballet was a big part of your childhood and you loved it, add some pink.
The trick here is to dive deep on what makes you, YOU and then translate it to colours.
Step 2. Decide how you want your space to feel.
More important than how your home looks is how it makes you feel, right?
Your home is your sanctuary, and it needs to make you feel good and put a smile on your face every time you walk in.
So you must know what kind of mood you want your room to evoke, so you can then pick colours that will support those feelings.
For example, if you want your home to feel cosy, got for dark or warm colours like red, pink and yellow.
Designing a home office and want it to feel relaxing and creative?
Add some light green that’s a stress reliever and orange that stimulates your creativity.
Step no 3. Analyse your space.
So really, just decide on the mood and then pick your colours based on their psychology.
Apart from how you want your space to feel, you must analyse your room
So you’ll know what needs to be addressed to support the look and the feelings that you want your space to evoke.
For example, you might have a big fireplace that’s making
your living room appears smaller, or an arch that you would like to make the focal point of the room, for instance.
And always consider the natural light.
Because light and shade affect the way the colours and the space look and feel.
Also, colour changes depending on the lighting.
For instance, a blue that you loved at the shop, might look darker in your living room, depending on the amount of natural light that’s coming in.
So always consider it.
