Having a small budget doesn’t mean that you can’t have the decor you always wanted!
This is something I learned when I first started designing our home.
And then applied it with my clients, students and during my time on the Netflix show Interior Design Masters.
So in this video, I’m sharing with you the two tips to stretch your money and make the most of your design budget.
Let’s get started!

No 1: Invest in what creates a wow effect.
Make a list of everything you need for your room and decide which items you should invest.
For instance, instead of spending most of my budget on an expensive sofa, I much rather buy an affordable, basic but comfortable one from Ikea, for example. And then invest in some sticking cushions, curtains and wallpapers. Because they’re what will create the magic in the space!
And also, don’t forget to think about what you see as soon as you walk into the room, as you want to create an impact and set the mood right from the beginning!
So spend some money on that view.
And tip no 2: Get creative.
Go back to that list you wrote and select which items you can get creative with.
For example, can you buy a charity shop coffee table and then upholster it with a gorgeous fabric? Or maybe make your own headboard, or paint a piece of furniture that’s already there?
Don’t be afraid of learning new skills if you need too!
5 years ago, I had no clue how to upcycle, hang wallpaper, upholster….
I learned it all for free from YouTube and Pinterest!
If I can do it, you can do it too!

To a colourful life!

Hi Ju! My name is Monica and I just finished watching the awesome show you were in on Netflix! Your designs were SO up my alley and I loved everything you did – particularly all of the gorgeous florals and bright happy colors! I was wondering if you could tell me where I could find the fabulous seagull wallpaper you used in your gorgeous salon design? I have been searching everywhere on the Internet for it and I can’t find it anywhere! PLEASE let me know the name of it and where you found it – I am so in love with it! Thanks so much! xxx Monica
Hey Monica, thanks SO much for your kind words! Really happy you loved my work. So… I made the seagull wallpaper, especially for that project because I couldn’t find it anywhere! But who knows I might start selling it one day! xx
