Today I’m giving you 3 of my BEST tips to choose the right wallpaper for your room!

Wallpaper can be such a great addition to a room and you shouldn’t be scared of it…I’m here to help!

Ready? Let’s go!

Tip 1: Choose your main colours BEFORE choosing your wallpaper!

The first thing you need to think about is the mood you want your room to have. Then, based on the psychology of colour, pick colours that evoke those feelings!

Once you’ve chosen them you can then look for a wallpaper that contains some of those colours.

For example; we wanted our bedroom to feel bright and relaxing. So we went for lots of white, pastel pinks and muted blues. Then we chose a wallpaper that contains those colours!

Tip 2: Choosing the patterns

When you choose your pattern, don’t just think about the style. You also need to consider the story that you want your room to tell.

Don’t forget the ‘busyness’ of it – oh, that didn’t sound right! I mean how busy it looks!

For instance; a super busy and bright coloured wallpaper probably won’t work in a relaxing bedroom. But it could look great in a room used for entertaining as it will stimulate interaction!

For me, it’s not so much about the size of the patterns. I think the space between the patterns and colours are much more important.

In our bedroom wallpaper from tip 1, the colours are light and you can see a lot of the white background. Even though there is a lot of pattern and the scale is not small, it still feels soft and relaxing!

Also, why not consider a wallpaper that isn’t patterned, like an ombre or one with textured effect? They’ll deffo add dimension, texture and personality to your space!

Tip 3: Always order samples

There is nothing quite like sticking samples to your wall so that you can really see if they fit the vibe you are going for.

Tip: If the samples are small, order more than one and stick them together. It’ll give you a better idea of the colours in it and how the pattern will look in your room.
